Flying from Milan to London takes less time than traveling by train to the other end of Italy. Because of this proximity, it's easy to perceive the British border as a formality. But after Brexit, the rules have changed: Italian citizens require an ETA for a short visit, while foreigners with an Italian residence permit may need a full visa to the UK from Italy.
And if a full visa is required, it's best to prepare for it. This preparation includes an online application, supporting documents, and a visit to the visa application center for biometrics. Visa Agency verifies the initial information in advance and organizes the application process. This allows you to plan your tickets and vacation with an understanding of the timeframes, costs, and UKVI requirements.
An Italian residence permit confirms the right to live in the country, but does not explain the entire trip. UKVI still needs to understand the applicant's activities, how they finance their visit, and their connection to Italy. Therefore, the following documents are usually attached to the passport and application form:
Documents in Italian must be accompanied by a full translation into English. It must include the date, the translator's details and signature, and a confirmation of the accuracy of the text. UKVI considers flight and hotel reservations to be weak evidence: they demonstrate plans but say little about income, employment, or reasons for returning.
The three weeks specified by UKVI do not begin from the moment you open the application or pay the fee. Processing begins after identity verification and submission of documents. Therefore, the official deadline is supplemented by the waiting time for the biometrics appointment, and the date depends on availability at the center.
A Standard Visitor application can be submitted no earlier than three months before travel. It is best not to shorten this period unnecessarily: checking individual documents, additional inquiries, or interviews can delay the decision. Even a fully paid vacation does not give priority to an application.
The visa budget is calculated for each traveler separately, including the youngest. For a standard visitor visa of up to 6 months, an applicant from Italy pays €165. A 2-year visa costs €614, a 5-year visa costs €1,096, and a 10-year visa costs €1,370. The latter options are convenient for regular travel, but they do not allow continuous stay in the country for the entire specified period. You will also have to pay an additional fee for submitting biometrics in a country other than your country of citizenship - €95 (sometimes subject to exchange rates).
Payment allows UKVI access to your application and initiates its processing. Translations, passport forwarding, and visa application center services are not included in the fee. Therefore, for a couple or family, it's best to calculate the total before filling out the forms: each new application adds a separate fee and associated costs.

Banking, employment, and immigration statements may be impeccable individually, but they should all be integrated into a single UK application. The Visa Agency reviews the application in this format:
This way, the client understands in advance what will be required of them and where personal involvement will be necessary. The decision is made by the UK visa service, but the prepared application does not need to be amended after submission.
