RESULTS WE ARE PROUD OF

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE APPLYING

01

Can I apply through France?

Yes, if the applicant is legally present in France and can explain their connection to France. For US visas, a truthful travel purpose and interview readiness are critical.
02

Which documents matter most?

The key documents are DS-160, passport, appointment confirmation, financial evidence and materials proving why you will return after the trip.
03

Is personal attendance required?

Yes, most US visa applicants attend a personal interview and provide biometrics at the consular section.
04

How long does the process take?

Timing depends on available interview dates. We prepare the file in advance so the case is ready once a slot appears.
05

What should I do after a refusal?

We review the refusal reason under 214(b) or another section, strengthen weak points and recommend reapplying only when the case is stronger.

A French residence permit and a French passport offer completely different opportunities for travel to the United States. French citizens are included in the Visa Waiver Program: for tourist and business trips of up to 90 days (subject to program requirements), they only need an ESTA. This regime does not grant foreigners the right to reside in France, so entry requirements are determined primarily by their citizenship.

However, traveling to the country to present your passport is not necessary. A US visa from France can be processed in the applicant's legal residence, but current regulations require proof of such residency. After this, the visa category, DS-160, financial requirements, and travel documents are determined. This is where Visa Agency can step in, processing the application based on the client's specific situation.

What documents are needed to obtain a US visa from France?

For B1/B2, there are mandatory requirements: a passport, DS-160 and Appointment Confirmation (the numbers must match), fee payment, and a photograph (in case of errors when uploading the application). The rest is up to the applicant. The consul may request confirmation of the purpose of the trip, the ability to pay for it, and the conditions under which the person will return after the visit.

For a French resident, such a collection usually consists of documents for various purposes:

  1. Passport;
  2. DS-160 confirmation page;
  3. Visa fee payment confirmation;
  4. French residence permit or other proof of legal residence;
  5. Employment certificates, study or business documents;
  6. Bank statements and proof of source of income;
  7. Itinerary and travel plans;
  8. Sponsor documents, if another person is covering the expenses;
  9. Copies of relatives' documents (if visiting them);
  10. Documents About family, if they help to clarify the applicant's situation.

There is no fixed amount that must be deposited into the account before applying. The funds must correspond to the applicant's income and expected travel expenses. And status in France is especially important for foreign applicants: when applying at their place of residence, current regulations require proof of residency.

US Visa Processing Times via France

There is no fixed waiting time for a US visa. The interview usually takes the longest time: available dates in Paris change as the schedule is updated. The State Department specifically warns that the published waiting times do not guarantee a specific date, and new slots may become available sooner.

Passports are not always returned immediately after the interview. If the application is sent for additional verification or the applicant is asked to bring documents, the waiting time will be longer. Therefore, it's best to begin your application early and not tie ticket and hotel reservations to the expected visa approval date.

French Visa Cost

With a B1/B2 visa, at least one cost is known in advance: $185 for application processing. This is not the ""price of a ready-made visa,"" so the fee is not refunded if the visa is refused. Each applicant pays the fee separately, including children who require their own U.S. visa.

The location of application does not change this rate: the same federal rate applies in France. However, after approval, citizens of some countries may be charged an additional visa issuance fee, and these fees are determined by the applicant's passport, not their French residence permit. For example, for citizens of Ukraine and France, applying for a B1/B2 visa, there is currently no such surcharge.

You should also factor in the costs of photographs, translations, and support, if needed. Therefore, $185 can be considered a mandatory base fee, rather than the full cost of the entire application.

Why apply for a visa through a Visa Agency

Errors in the American application often appear even before the interview: the wrong category is selected, the DS-160 contains inaccuracies, and the documents do not explain certain aspects of the case. Visa Agency steps in at this stage and takes care of the practical aspects of the application:

  • Evaluates documents on employment, income, and residence in France;
  • Helps prepare financial confirmations;
  • Completes and verifies the DS-160;
  • Assists with scheduling the interview;
  • Prepares the applicant for possible questions from the consul.

The decision to issue a visa is made by the consular officer, so the result cannot be guaranteed. The goal of support is different: to eliminate errors, resolve controversial issues in advance, and guide the client to the interview with a prepared case. And if difficulties arise, help gather additional documents or information to make the process easier.

You can start with a free consultation: submit a request, and a Visa Agency expert will analyze your case to improve your chances of obtaining a U.S. visa!
