RESULTS WE ARE PROUD OF

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE APPLYING

01

What is a C1/D visa and who is it for?

A C1/D visa is a special category for people entering the United States as part of their professional duties on a means of transportation. C1 is a transit visa, while D is a crew member visa. In most cases they are issued together as a combined C1/D visa.
02

Who exactly needs a C1/D visa?

Seafarers and ship officers, ship captains, cruise ship employees including service staff, pilots and aircraft captains, flight attendants operating flights to the United States, as well as anyone traveling to the U.S. to join a vessel or aircraft.
03

Can a flight attendant or pilot enter the U.S. with a tourist visa?

No. Aircraft crew members are required to enter the United States with a C1/D visa. Entering on a tourist visa for work-related flights is considered a violation and may lead to deportation and a ban on entry.
04

What documents does a seafarer need for a C1/D visa?

A valid passport, Seaman’s Book, employment contract with the shipping company, a letter from the employer confirming the position and routes through U.S. ports, and a completed DS-160 form.
05

What documents does a pilot or flight attendant need for a C1/D visa?

A valid passport, employment contract with the airline, a letter from the airline confirming the position and flight routes through the United States, Crew ID, pilot license for flight crew members, and a completed DS-160 form.
06

What documents does a cruise ship employee need?

A valid passport, employment contract with the cruise company, a company letter confirming the position and cruise routes, proof that the route includes U.S. ports, and a completed DS-160 form.
07

Is an employer letter mandatory?

Yes. This is the key document for all applicant categories — seafarers, pilots, flight attendants, and cruise ship employees. The letter must include the position, routes, and confirmation that destinations include the United States.
08

Can I get a C1/D visa without an active contract?

It is extremely difficult. Without a contract or employer letter, the consul cannot confirm the work-related purpose of entry. We recommend obtaining confirmation from the employer first and then applying for the visa.
09

Can an aircraft or ship captain receive a visa for a longer period?

Yes. For commanding staff — ship captains and aircraft captains — consuls often issue visas for a longer validity period. This depends on travel history, work experience, and the company.
10

Can I apply for a B1/B2 tourist visa together with a C1/D visa?

Yes. When applying for a C1/D visa, you can also request a B1/B2 tourist visa. This allows you to enter the United States both for work and personal travel using the same passport.
11

Is a personal interview at the embassy required?

Yes. A C1/D visa requires a personal interview at the U.S. embassy. We schedule your appointment in Warsaw or Kraków and prepare you for the interview in advance.
12

What questions are asked during a C1/D visa interview?

Questions usually include where you work, your position, vessel or flight routes, how long you have worked for the company, and whether you plan to stay in the United States after completing your assignment.
13

How much does a C1/D visa cost?

The U.S. embassy consular fee is $185 and is non-refundable in case of refusal. Our services start from 500 EUR per person.
14

How long is a C1/D visa issued for?

From 1 to 10 years with multiple entries depending on the consul’s decision. For flight crew members and experienced seafarers with long careers, visas are usually issued for a longer period.
15

How long does the process take?

Case preparation with us takes from 5 to 10 days. Waiting time for the interview is usually from 1 to 3 weeks. Passport delivery after approval takes 3–5 business days.
16

Can I stay in the U.S. as a tourist with a C1/D visa?

No. A C1/D visa only allows entry within professional duties. A separate B1/B2 visa is required for tourism, and it can be requested together with the C1/D visa.
17

What if I change airlines or shipping companies after receiving the visa?

Changing employers does not automatically cancel your C1/D visa. However, when entering the United States you must have a valid contract with the new company.
18

Does a previous U.S. visa help when applying for a C1/D visa?

Yes, positively. A previous tourist visa or C1/D visa with a good compliance history is a strong advantage. It proves that you returned home and respected U.S. immigration rules.
19

What are the main reasons for a C1/D visa refusal?

No valid contract or employer letter, routes that do not include the United States, weak financial documents, previous visa violations, or inconsistencies between documents and interview answers.
20

What should I do if I have already been refused a C1/D visa?

We determine the reason for the refusal and build a new strategy. With a valid contract and properly prepared documents, the chances of approval are high. In case of refusal, a free reapplication is included in the cost of our services.
