The K-1 visa is a special immigration visa for the fiancé or fiancée of a US citizen. It allows entry into the United States for marriage. After the wedding you can apply for a Green Card and remain in the USA permanently.

A person planning to marry a US citizen, who has personally met their partner within the last 2 years, is not married at the time of application, and intends to marry within 90 days after entering the USA.

Yes. US law requires the couple to have met in person within the last 2 years before filing the petition. Online communication does not count as a personal meeting.
