RESULTS WE ARE PROUD OF

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE APPLYING

01

Can I apply through Czech Republic?

Yes, if the applicant is legally present in Czech Republic and can explain their connection to Czech Republic. For US visas, a truthful travel purpose and interview readiness are critical.
02

Which documents matter most?

The key documents are DS-160, passport, appointment confirmation, financial evidence and materials proving why you will return after the trip.
03

Is personal attendance required?

Yes, most US visa applicants attend a personal interview and provide biometrics at the consular section.
04

How long does the process take?

Timing depends on available interview dates. We prepare the file in advance so the case is ready once a slot appears.
05

What should I do after a refusal?

We review the refusal reason under 214(b) or another section, strengthen weak points and recommend reapplying only when the case is stronger.

You don't have to apply for a US visa in the place where you were born or received your passport. Therefore, the Czech Republic is sometimes considered as a location to apply when completing the entire process in your home country is inconvenient or impossible.

However, simply selecting Prague on a map and scheduling an interview isn't enough: since 2025, the rules for applicants from third countries have become stricter, and the possibility of applying for one needs to be verified based on your specific situation.

If you need a US visa from the Czech Republic, Visa Agency first evaluates the applicant's citizenship, status, and background, and then determines whether the application can be processed through the US Embassy in Prague. If this option is suitable, the team helps you prepare your application and navigate the rest of the process without having to navigate local regulations during the application process.

What documents are needed to obtain a US visa from the Czech Republic?

The US Embassy doesn't require the same set of documents from every applicant. A passport, DS-160 confirmation, and appointment documents are required in any case, but everything else depends on the individual: where they live, what they do, who is paying for the trip, and why they are going to the US.

If you are applying in Prague, it makes sense to bring documents that will help quickly confirm your answers at the interview:

  1. Czech residence permit, visa, or other document proving legal residence;
  2. Employment certificate, business documents, or proof of study;
  3. Bank statements, proof of sufficient funds for the trip;
  4. Information about your route to the US;
  5. Documents about family, employment, property, and other ties to the country of residence (if relevant);
  6. Copies of relatives' documents (passport, US residency status), if traveling to him.

There is no fixed bank balance that automatically makes an application valid. A certain amount may be reasonable for one person, but questionable for another. Therefore, it should be compared with your income, trip duration, expenses, and how long the money has been in the account.

US Visa Processing Time via the Czech Republic

There is no set time frame from application to passport delivery. First, you need to complete the DS-160, pay the fee, and get an interview date in Prague. Waiting for a free slot can take up the majority of your time, and availability varies, so it's not a good idea to rely on current numbers when planning your trip.

After the interview, a decision is sometimes made immediately, but this doesn't mean you can pick up your passport the same day: you'll have to wait 2 to 5 business days for the visa sticker to be applied. In some cases, applications are sent for additional administrative review, the duration of which cannot be determined in advance. Therefore, it is best to begin the process with some extra time, especially if your trip is tied to a specific date.

Cost of a Czech Republic Visa

For a B1/B2 tourist or business visa, the basic consular fee is $185. This fee is paid by each applicant individually before the interview, including children. If the visa is refused, the fee is non-refundable.

However, the costs don't always end there. Citizens of some countries are subject to an additional reciprocity fee after approval. Its amount depends on the applicant's citizenship, not on whether the documents are submitted in the Czech Republic.

Also, it's worth budgeting separately for the cost of photographs, translations, and other documents specific to your specific situation.

Why apply for a visa through a Visa Agency

You can apply for a US visa independently, but when applying through the Czech Republic, you must consider both US requirements and the rules of the specific application location. Visa Agency handles the part of the process where errors most often occur:

  • Checks whether the Czech Republic is suitable for your case;
  • Completes the DS-160;
  • Helps collect supporting documents;
  • Schedules an interview and prepares you for the visa officer's questions;
  • Fully reviews your case before submitting.

The consulate ultimately makes the decision. The agency's goal is to ensure that the applicant comes to the interview with a clear story and no inconsistencies in the application and documents. And in the event of an administrative review, we won't leave you alone with the problem: we'll complete the necessary documents and answer all your questions.

Schedule a consultation, describe your situation, and a Visa Agency expert will tell you how to increase your chances of obtaining a US visa!
