The French residence card allows for easy access to many aspects of the Schengen Area, but different rules apply across the English Channel. A French citizen can usually obtain an ETA for a short visit. A foreigner living in the country with a temporary residence permit may require a full visa to the UK from France.
And it's best to start applying for one by verifying your eligibility for entry, rather than by purchasing a ticket to London. To ensure everything goes smoothly, it's best to trust the people who handle these types of matters every day.
For example, at Visa Agency, where a team of specialists verifies the applicant's status, determines the appropriate application format, and explains the steps ahead in advance. This helps prevent the discovery, after booking your trip, that a French residence card alone isn't enough to cross the border.
Certificates from a French bank and employer may be impeccable, but UKVI doesn't evaluate their appearance. What matters is whether your dates, income, and travel plans form a plausible picture. For a Standard Visitor, the following documents are typically prepared:
Separately, please note the amount in the account. It must be optimal and calculated individually for each case. French documents must be accompanied by a full translation into English. The translation must include the date, signature, name and contact information of the person providing the document, as well as a confirmation of its accuracy. Tickets and hotel reservations can also be included with the itinerary, but UKVI does not consider them reliable evidence of income or intent to return to France.
A UK visa has two important deadlines: application submission and the start of processing. Several days or weeks may pass between these dates while the applicant waits for an appointment and submits biometric data. UKVI's guideline for a Standard Visitor is three weeks, but the countdown begins only after identity verification and document submission.
The application opens three months before travel. This period should include a visit to the center and the screening process. If confirmation of a discharge, additional information, or an interview are required, the decision will be delayed. Therefore, it's best not to set your departure date too close to the end of the official three-week period.
For a short trip of up to six months, the fee is €164. If you fly regularly, you can apply for a Standard Visitor visa for two years for €614, for five years for €1,096, or for ten years for €1,370. You pay for the document's validity, not for the right to live in the country for that entire period: each trip remains a temporary visit. For Ukrainian citizens with French residency documents, there is no biometric fee.
The family budget is calculated based on the number of applications. Children are charged separately. Additional costs may include translations, file preparation, passport forwarding, and assistance. Therefore, the tariff amount should be immediately correlated with the number of travelers and the chosen application method.
When applying through France, the following apply:
The British application form does not forgive ""piecemeal"" work, when one specialist translates the certificate, another fills out the form, and the applicant attaches an extract without explanation. In As a result, the documents tell different stories about the same trip, and the likelihood of refusal increases.
To improve your chances, Visa Agency assembles your application as a whole:
Agency It doesn't affect the UK visa service's decision, but it does reduce the risk of errors that can be corrected in advance. See for yourself: during a free consultation, a specialist will review your travel circumstances and determine the specific assistance needed for your specific case!
